The Alliance for Digital Fabrication Education was formed in an effort to create equality in learning opportunities for young people and promote the development of critical thinking and design entrepreneurship with the use of digital fabrication tools. The 501c3 not-for-profit organization now leads the effort to bring to under-recognized students a captivating outlook on the future with Maker Education. Primary to the effort, is creating a connection to learning by making which builds inner confidence. AdfabEd works directly with educators and their students to bring these advanced manufacturing tools and systems to a provide a platform for the exploration of the individual potential in all students.
The empowerment of students at all levels – is our greatest challenge for growth as a society and we work towards igniting and creating the next group of risk-takers, inventors, and visionaries from ordinary means who will pioneer solutions for the betterment of all. Founded in 2014 by a group of industrial designers and educators in New York City. We are now home to an interdisciplinary team of designers, strategists, and learning practitioners. Our first large-scale project was the design and implementation of an innovative learning tool called the MobilemakerEd Cart which allows any space to become a meaningful learning environment for STEM and Maker Education.
Using the principles of the constructivist pedagogy, we have created programs, events, workshops, and products. We work wherever people are: in communities, schools, cultural and civic institutions. We are not preparing for a distant future. We are about meeting young people where they are and igniting their potential now and empower them to thrive as active citizens in a connected world.
